Uniform Care:

  • Check Drillmasters, Shako, and Gloves regularly for cleaning needed throughout the season.
  • Gloves are machine washable.
  • Hats can be cleaned with Clorox wipes, and are to be stored with the flat top down.
  • Uniforms will be washed twice a season, or as needed by our washing team.
  • We are working on a video with instructions on how to properly hang the uniforms. This will go out to students before the first wearing of the uniforms.

On Performance Days (Football Games + Competitions):

  • Students need to bring their equipment bag with all items listed above.
  • Compression shorts should be worn on the day of the performance.
  • This will make changing in the upper gym, parking lots, or other locations easier and more efficient.
  • They should wear their show shirt under their uniform unless otherwise instructed, and always wear clean all black crew socks. *No Logos can be showing.
  • No makeup in uniform.
  • No Jewelry in uniform. If it cannot be removed, you may cover it with a flesh covered bandaid, or use clear earrings (can be found on amazon).
  • Hair must be secured up and off the neckline. A bun positioned on the top of the head usually works best. Please use bobby pins to secure any shorter pieces at the back. Students will get a video in the student band app showing how this can be done.

*Summer Uniform:

This is worn for the parent show, and potentially the first few football games when the weather is too hot for the standard marching band uniform.
Directors will update via the itinerary which is being worn.

  • Show Shirt (provided)
  • Black Shorts (shorts must be at least mid thigh in length,)
  • Light-Colored Gym Shoes (no neon)

Marching Band Uniform Volunteer Opportunities

It truly takes a village to give our band students the best experience possible—and uniforms are no exception!

We are currently looking for volunteers to join our Uniforms Team for the upcoming season. Whether you’d like to help in a small way or take on a bigger role, there’s a place for everyone. No prior experience is needed—we’re happy to teach you!

Uniforms Team

Uniform Chair: Sonya Clary lembuniforms@gmail.com

Sonya is looking for 1–2 partners to help with key responsibilities for the season. If you're detail-oriented or just want to get involved behind the scenes, this could be a great fit! Responsibilities include:

  • Managing uniform inventory
  • Ordering supplies and replacement pieces
  • Distributing and collecting show shirts, Drillmasters (shoes), gloves, hats, and equipment bags
  • Washing uniforms
  • Wrapping/pluming hats before performances and removing plumes after

Alterations Team

Alterations Chair: Alexandra Ince alexandra.r.ince@gmail.com

Alexandra will have a senior in the band this season and is looking for two or more individuals to shadow and eventually step into leadership. This role focuses on uniform alterations during band camp, and repairs as needed during the season. This is a great way to get involved during band camp (3 weeks) and learn from experienced volunteers.
We're looking for volunteers for the following roles (training provided!):

  • Pinning (no sewing required—you’ll be taught how to pin properly)
  • Sewing (basic machine sewing; we can teach you if you have a machine!)
  • Ironing/Steaming
  • Uniform Tracking & Organization

Not sure if you're ready to commit? That's okay!

Reach out with any questions— we’d love to chat and tell you more about what’s involved. These roles are not only a meaningful way to support the band, but they’re also a great opportunity to:

  • Learn new skills
  • Make lasting friendships
  • Get to know the amazing students
  • Become part of the wonderful marching band community

We’d love to have you on the team!
