Band Trips

The Lakota East High School Marching Thunderhawks will travel to Hawaii to march in the 2008 Waikiki Holiday Parade on the island of Oahu, November 28, 2008.   The parade will commemorate the 67th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, which occurred December 7, 1941.

About 220 students and 80 adults are anticipated to make the week-long trip during the Thanksgiving break.  The band also plans to invite a Pearl Harbor veteran to accompany the students.   The trip includes a performance at the USS Missouri Battleship Memorial; a tour of the Polynesian Cultural Center; a visit to the Dole Plantation; a hike to the top of Diamond Head (an extinct volcano) and snorkeling!

The cost of the trip is estimated at $600,000 or $2,000 per person.

The trip will be a great educational and cultural experience for the students. Stay posted for trip updates and fundraising plans!
