THINGS TO REMEMBER
Each year, Wittenberg University awards more than $350,000 in music scholarships, available to all students regardless of major–with several dozen scholarships awarded annually, for voice, piano, guitar, and orchestral and band instruments.
Our scholarship auditions begin in a month. I hope you will encourage your students to audition for a music scholarship! Here’s how:
Wittenberg is a small liberal arts college (12:1 student-faculty ratio) in south-central Ohio, with more Ohio Professors of the Year than any other four-year college or university in the state. The Music Department is one of the most active departments on campus. I am a music professor and the Music Admission Coordinator here at Wittenberg.
Let me know if you have any questions about our music program!

Other items of interest:
Hat Wraps/Hats – We still had a couple people get the wrong size hat wrap at BOA. Please double check your hat size for Saturday. The hats got pretty sweaty inside last weekend because it was so warm – please take a damp cloth and wipe your hat carefully inside and out. Shine the mirrored parts if necessary. Also be very careful whenever you have to set your hat down on concrete or other rough surfaces while out at contests.
Gauntlets – Some of you showed me where your gauntlet got ink on it from the hand stamp used at BOA. You will get your hands stamped at most contests so please be aware of this if you already have your gauntlets on when being stamped. Put your opposite hand in front of your gauntlet at the wrist and make sure the ink is dry before bending your wrist up where it could get on the gauntlet.
Hair – Too many of your still have pieces of hair hanging out of your hat. All hair around and behind your head must be pulled back tightly and tucked inside the hat. Use hair spray, gel, bobby pins, barrettes or whatever you need to accomplish this. This includes boys too!!! Guys with curly hair or longer hair in the back still need to tuck it inside the hat!
Remember: guys – clean-shaven and girls – no makeup. Leave all jewelry at home!]]>

Information for Families about Loveland OMEA Contest
Parking at OMEA events is usually free. Depending on the venue, it may be necessary to park in grassy fields and you may have a significant walk to get to the stadiums.
Entry Fees: About $7 IN CASH per person; a credit card reader is not guaranteed at every venue. Concession costs are minimal and run by the hosting school’s Music Boosters. It’s always wise to have cash on hand when attending OMEA contests.
Remember to sit as high as you possibly can. It’s much easier to see the formations.

Water: Band members are ALWAYS responsible for bringing their own water! They need to bring as much as they believe they will need DURING and AFTER rehearsal (bring a water jug, Gatorade, bottles of water, etc.) and any time AFTER the performance. Disposable water bottles work best.
A packed dinner with beverage: We will eat dinner at Lakota East before getting dressed and boarding the buses. You will NOT have time to leave campus. If your band member needs more to eat than just dinner, please pack simple, non-messy snacks they may throw in a tote bag; for example, granola or protein bars.
There’s probably no time to visit the concession stand, so no need for them to bring money.
Uniform Information: Click HERE for complete uniform information for Saturday.
Bring layers of clothing: jacket/sweatshirt/long pants, etc. As the season goes on, this list will include hats/gloves/hand warmers!
