Greetings Band Families!

This is just a reminder about the upcoming Ensemble Recital that is taking place on Monday, January 23. Here is the link for times:

Ensembles are performing their selections for the upcoming solo/ensemble event (to be held at Lakota WEST High Sschool) for a guest adjudicator. Parents are more than welcome to come to this performance and clinic. Groups are scheduled every 15 minutes. In this time they will perform the selection and work with our guests. It's a very educational evening! Students should arrive at East at least 25minutes prior to their performance time. Warm up is in the band room.

THE ACTUAL SOLO/ENSEMBLE EVENT:

The actual solo/ensemble event (again being held at Lakota WEST High School) is Saturday, January 28. Here is the link to the times:

Students should plan to arrive at West at least 30 minutes prior to their performance time. Warm up rooms will be marked accordingly.

This is a performance. Be sure to "Dress for Success". Jeans are not appropriate attire for this event.

LEHS Swing Dance is Still ON!!!

I hope all is well! We have received official word from Lakota East administration and the LEHS Jazz Swing Dance this evening is still ON as scheduled. The parking lot at East was treated last night and this morning.

Greetings Parents and Band Students:

The 6th Annual Jazz Swing Dance is less then 2 weeks away. This is a major fundraiser for all the bands and color guard. We raise approximately $5000 from this dance. This a fun evening that is attended by people of all ages.

We only need 1 hour of your time to work before, during or after the Swing Dance on Sat. Jan 21st. Click on the worker link on the band website to see what shifts are available. www.lakotaeastbands.org/swingdance

Discounted tickets are only available prior to the dance. They are available on the website mentioned above and will be on sale during lunch at the freshman building this Thurs. and at the main campus on Fri.

Swing Dance Update – January 2, 2012

Dear Band/Guard Parents,

Some of you may or may not be familiar with the Jazz Swing Dance that we have been putting on for the last 5 years. It is an awesome fundraiser for ALL the Lakota East Bands and Color Guard, not just the jazz bands. It will take place on Sat. Jan 21 from 7:00-10:00 in the main campus cafeteria. It is a fun night for people of all ages. The jazz bands are showcased and the dance is open to the public. We have professional dance instructors teaching the crowd to swing dance. We even have a dance competition at the end of the evening.

We can not put on event like this withot help from a lot of different people. Even if you have a student playing at the dance, we need your help. Here are the approximate times the different bands are playing so you can plan to work when your son/daughter is not playing. We only need people for a approximate 1 hour shift.

1:00 freshman 7:00
2:00 freshman at 7:30
7:00 jazz at 8:00
8:00 jazz at 8:30
Eastside at 9:00

If you go to the site you will see all the available slots where we need workers. If you can't work during the dance we need help during the day setting up, and at the end of evening.

Tickets are now on sale on the band website: www.lakotaeastbands.org/swingdanceThey are cheaper if you buy them before the dance. You do need a ticket even if you are working at the dance.

We will be selling tickets to students during lunch on Jan 12th at the freshman buildling and on Jan 13th at the main campus.

Also, Please bring food items to help stock the shelves at Reach Out Lakota. You will receiveFREE raffle tickets if you do and a chance to win an evening out for 2!

A message from Ms. McKenna:

We want you to come to dance and enjoy your son or daughter playing in the band, but we also need your help by working one shift when they are not playing. The approximate times your student will be playing are as follows:

1 O’clock freshman will play at approx 7:00pm
2 O’clock freshman at 7:30
7 O’clock Jazz at 8:00
8 O’clock Jazz at 8:30
Eastside JE at 9:00

Fruit, Cheesecake & Cookie Dough Delivery

Volunteers are needed for the upcoming delivery and distribution of the LEUC Fruit, Cheesecake and Cookie Dough Fundraiser. We will be in need of approximately 6 adults and 6 students on Friday, December 2 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm and 6 students on Saturday, December 3from 8:00 am - Noon. The work will include unloading, sorting and creating student orders. All workers should be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. 10 Craft Show Volunters Needed + Baked Items

The Lakota East High School PTSO Craft show is just hours away. Thank you to those who have and will volunteer at this event. It's the PTSO's largest fundraiser and brings in crafters and shoppers from across the Tri-State. If you or a family member has a few hours to spare this weekend (Friday evening – Sunday afternoon), please consider volunteering. Only a couple of hours of your time will really help the Upbeat Club support the PTSO. Sign up for a volunteer shift.

And…as an added Bonus — volunteers have a special parking area.

We need your baking skills for the Bake Sale which will be held during the Craft Show on November 12 and 13. If your shopping skills are better, we also accept purchased items for the Bake Sale. We can use cookies, cakes, brownies, candy, pies and anything else you can think of. It's time to get ready for OMEA Honor Band Auditions. Mr Nordyke from Liberty Jr has shared information about Honor Band and Audition music for 7th and 8th graders. This information is for all Jr High students. If you or your student has any questions, please contact your Band teacher.

This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to be immersed in music for a weekend with their peers from across SW Ohio.
