• All new members of the East Marching Band and all members of the Leadership Team are required to attend Rookie Day.
• Practice will begin in the Band Room at 3:15.
• Practice ends at 6:00, at which time there will be a parent meeting in the cafeteria
• The beginning of practice will be an indoor meeting.  Following the meeting, we will move to the stadium to begin marching and playing!
• Dress for the weather outside.  Shorts and light tee-shirts are recommended.
• Tying tennis shoes and socks are required.
• Everyone should bring water for rehearsal.
• Sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats are recommended.
• Bring your marching band instrument.  (Students who play percussion, tuba, baritone, and French horn do NOT need to bring an instrument.  These instruments/mouthpieces will be provided at practice.)
• Any new member who was not measured at the Marching Band meeting will be measured for a uniform at the Rookie Day practice.

• Awards Ceremony begins at 7:00 p.m.
• This is an evening for all band members and their families to celebrate all instrumental music activities and achievements of the 2012 – 2013 Lakota East Band Program, with special emphasis on our graduating seniors.
• Please dress up for the awards ceremony.

Freshman Concert Starts at 7:00pm

• Report time for Freshman Bands is 6:30 p.m.
• 1^st Period will meet and warm-up in the Band Room at the Main Campus.
• 2^nd Period will meet and warm-up in the Choir Room at the Main Campus.
• 1^st and 2^nd Periods will listen to each other perform.
• Concert dress is black dress shoes, black socks/hose, black pants/skirt, and white dress shirt.  Gentlemen should wear ties.  Skirts should be knee length.
• Freshmen are welcome to stay for the Main Campus portion of the concert.

Main Campus Concert Starts at 8:15pm

• Report time for Main Campus Bands is 7:45 p.m.
• Symphonic Band will meet and warm-up in the Band Room.
• Symphonic Winds will meet and warm-up in the Choir Room.
• Symphonic Band and Symphonic Winds will listen to each other perform.

On behalf of our students and band directors, thank you so much for making our seventh annual Cool Jazz N’ Hotcakes breakfast a huge success!  From planning to clean up, we could not have asked for a more positive atmosphere in which to showcase our talented students and eat delicious pancakes!  Thank you to all parents who were able to help out with the event.  Whether you volunteered in big or small ways, we appreciate your help!

A special thank you to the CJNH core committee, including co-coordinators Jenny Vanden Eynden and Jill Cleaves, for their outstanding leadership!

We have one performance remaining for all jazz students.  The Lakota Spring Jazz Concert is on Wednesday, May 22^nd, 6:30pm at Lakota East High School.  Lakota East and West Jazz Band students in grades 9-12 will be featured.
