Lakota Summer Jazz Clinic - Sign Up Sheet! For 7th, 8th and 9th Grade Instrumentalist (2010-11) June 21-25th, 2010 at Lakota East HS Congratulations to the Eastside Jazz Ensemble on receiving an invitation to the Monterey Jazz Festival! Eastside was one of only twelve high school big bands selected to perform at the Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival in Monterey, California in April of this year. Auditions were by CD recording only and were judged by the Berkeley College of Music Faculty. CDs were received from schools throughout the nation and two foreign countries. The 7 O’clock Jazz Band will perform at 12:30pm. Their clinic will end at 1:30pm. The 8 O’clock Jazz Band will perform at 2:15pm. Their clinic will end at 3:15pm. The Eastside Jazz Ensemble will perform at 4:00pm. Their clinic will end around 5:15. Eastside JE students should plan to help with tear-down until 5:45pm. We are excited to announce the first ever Lakota Battle of the Big Bands - a friendly rivalry in concert between Lakota Eastside Jazz Ensemble and Lakota West Jazz Ensemble on Saturday, March 20, 8:00pm-10:00pm in the Lakota East Freshman Campus cafeteria. This event will be great fun for people of all ages! Bring the whole family for a wonderful evening of listening to jazz. Please come out to support all Lakota jazz and wear your East Bands spirit wear to support our side of town! You'll get to cast your vote for all kinds of fun awards! Admission is only $5 per person. Food (including pizza), drinks, and East Jazz T-Shirts will be available for purchase. Funds raised benefit the performing jazz students on their upcoming trips - Eastside JE (Monterey Jazz Festival) and LWHS Jazz Ensemble (Washington D.C.).
