Congratulations to the following students who were selected as members or alternates of the 2010-2011 OMEA District 13 Honor Jazz Band:
|Ian||West||Alto Sax||Alternate 1|
|Merrick||Morgan||Tenor Sax||Alt 2|
This is a tremendous honor for our students and we look forward to the great experience they are sure to have rehearsing and performing with the Honor Jazz Band in January! Please review the “2010-2011 Honor Jazz details letter for Lakota HS Students” for more information.
The fifth annual Lakota East JAZZ SWING DANCE will be held in the LEHS Main Campus cafeteria on Saturday, January 22nd, 7:00pm-10:00pm. Bands will include the both East Freshman Jazz Bands and all three East Main Campus Jazz Bands. We will also enjoy swing dance instruction, fantastic raffle baskets, food, drinks, and more! All are encouraged to attend – This is a fun evening for the entire family and people of all ages! Ticket will be on sale at upcoming concerts, can be purchased through any Lakota East Jazz Band student, or can be purchased online at Swing Dance. We hope to see you there!
The calendar had the Upbeat Club meeting on Thursday, December 15th, 2010. That is incorrect as the band directors are in Chicago, and people are very busy in December. Please forgive the misunderstanding and don’t show up for the club meeting as no one will be there.

I hope all is well! As you know, we are approaching the OMEA Conference clinic with the Eastside Jazz Ensemble on Friday, January 28, 2011 at the Millenium Hotel in downtown Cincinnati. The time of our clinic has been CHANGED to 8:30am-9:30am to allow all of our All-State students the opportunity to participate in the clinic without missing too much rehearsal time.
Our next order of business will be organizing transportation of students.
We currently have 13 students who will need transportation from and then back to the Kings Island Resort where All-State rehearsals are being held. They will need to be picked up at 7AM and will return to Kings Island Resort immediately following the clinic.
We also have 9 students not involved in All-State groups that will need transportation from and then back to LEHS. They will need to be picked up at LEHS outside of the band room at 7AM and transported back to LEHS after the clinic.
Please reply to this email if you are able to drive students from either location and please include the number of students you are able to transport. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help us carpool!
Please find the attached permission slip which needs to be completed and returned to me for every student.
We’re going to have a great experience at OMEA and I look forward to hearing your students play!
