Letter to Freshman Band Families and Students

Greetings Freshman Band Families and Students –
Just a couple of announcements as we approach the end of the 1st Quarter:

  1. Friday, October 29, 2010 the Freshman Band Students will be participating at the East vs. West Varsity Football Game at Lakota West.  Please see edline for more detailed information.  The permission form/EMF for this event is due on Friday, October 22, 2010.  Students were provided with that form in class, you will NOT find it on edline.
  2. The Annual Lakota East Band Fruit, Cheesecake, and Cookie Dough Sale started on Monday, October 11th and ends on Monday, November 1st.  Your son/daughter should have come home with a packet of information.  I encourage you to help the band program with this fundraiser as it is the only “big” one that we do.  Detailed information about the sale can be found on our web-site: www.lakotaeastsbands.org
  3. The last day for students to submit SmartMusic assignments is on Thursday, October 21st.  Please make sure your son/daughter has completed their assignments!
  4. 1st Quarter Enrichment Sheets (can be found on edline) are due Friday, October, 22nd.  Remember, the highest grade a student can receive in band is a 95% unless they do enrichment activities.
  5. The Fall Band Concert is coming up on Thursday, November 18th, 2010.  It will be held in the auditorium at the East Freshman Campus.  Specific details will be coming out closer to the concert.
  6. We would like to see ALL the students audition for the OMEA District 13 9th Grade Honor Band.  The auditions are on Saturday, December 4th, 2010 at Fairfield Middle School.  Music and information will be going out at the end of October about how to audition for this rewarding activity.
  7. Finally, please take a moment and update your contact information in Charms, our Upbeat Club database.  Mr. Thomas and I use it regularly and it is only useful to us if all of your contact information is up-to-date.  Use the following link: https://www.charmsoffice.com/charms/parents.asp  The “Student Password” that you will need to enter is: son/daughters graduation year last two numbers, first letter of their last name, last four numbers of your home phone number.  (EX.  14T8615) Click on the “Update Info” icon and enter your information.  Remember to click on “update” after you have completed the task.

As always, please feel free to contact me with any concerns or questions.
